Roland’s first two and a half years were spent in Caddington near Luton, with his parents Jeremy and Rose, and his half brothers Jonathan and Jacob.
The family then moved to Bromsgrove, where Rose’s parents Irene and Joe joined them to help look after the children, living first in New Road and then in Stourbridge Road. Roland also saw a lot of Jeremy’s parents Vi and Bert, who lived in Stourbridge.
In 1985 the family, now without Irene and Joe who were leaving the area, moved to Penmanor, Finstall.
