There was a school trip to a Roman fort this year and, as usual, there were visits to Sidmouth, staying with Joe and Irene.

Roland was spending a lot of time with Jacob, and in February he accompanied him on a train journey to stay a few days with Jacob’s father in Hertfordshire.

He was also beginning to enjoy playing chess with Jeremy.

Roland was not always doing what he should at school, and he began to have detentions.
