This year’s school highlight was in April, going on the Meadows School London Venture for a few days.
Then there was a school trip in May, to the Wyre Forest. Roland got lost with four others, and the coach had to wait fifty minutes for them. He said he’d sat and watched a deer for ages, really close up to him, while he was lost (this seemed to make quite an impression on him).
He began Parkside School, in Mrs Cole’s class, and said he liked it. At the October parent consulation there were no problems.
Roland accompanied Rose on an autumn coach trip to Llangollen where they went on a canal trip; he was intrigued by the water voles on the canal.
In February he stayed for the weekend in Sidmouth with Joe and Irene, without the rest of the family. Afterwards Roland said it was the best holiday he’d had; Grandpa had taken him along the front to see the results of the violent storm that had just happened there, and Grandma had made all the food he liked.
